"Maybe 'curiosity killed the cat', but it hasn't killed me yet. And I sure am satisfied."
~ Maxine Stewart
Played by Jayden Pham
Psychologist and Serology & Decomposition Expert for the NOPD.
Maxine was 24 years old at the time of the murders, and a transvestite (transgender MtF). She was raised by a lower class single mom, as she had an absent father. Maxine had always snuck around her mom to try on her makeup and clothes, when she eventually was caught cross-dressing by her mom, getting into an argument with her and kicked out. She was taken in by the city's vibrant LGBTQ+ community, building a connection with them and the other minorities in the area. As these oppressed communities were disregarded and low priority, murder cases, theft, and overall crime were left unchecked and uncared for. Maxine had made up her mind to help bring justice for her community. She helped look into crime scenes and studied to be a psychologist, skilled in analyzing crime scenes and people. Admiring her dedication to her community, Captain Luis Kirkman helped her reach better opportunities by using his authority in the NOPD to get her a job as a psychologist consultant.
Captain Kirkman assigned her to investigate Seb Pinnick's body along with Lieutenant LeBlanc, Detective Lassé, and Agent Hoover, which eventually lead to the entire Crescent City Cannibal case.
During the investigation, she compiled a psychological profile of the Crescent City Cannibal, which was unmatched in its accuracy, and was crucial in tracking and indicting Grant. This psychological profile helped get an idea of what kind of person the killer would be like based off of the state of the crime scenes, and connect crime scenes together based on patterns in the killer's behavior between crime scenes.
